What IS Addiction

The medical community treats the disease.

Psychologists call it compulsive dependence.

The courts say it leads to crime.

Social organizations call it a menace.

Religious groups condemn the sin.

Rockstars glorify the ‘high’.

Drug dealers call it business.

For college students it’s fun.

On Wall Street its socializing.

And down at the street corner, one addict simply said,

‘It’s what made me wretched, homeless and hopeless.’

Life Challenge calls it the ‘deceitful, ruthless and powerful ENEMY of the human race.’ ASAM Definition of Addiction:
